BS 5839-1:2025 is the current British Standard code of practice covering the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in non-domestic premises.
The appropriate fire detection and warning arrangements should be considered alongside the fire risk assessment, building use, occupancy and other fire-safety measures. The Responsible Person must put in place and maintain appropriate fire-safety measures for the premises.
